Short version: your clicks, keys and recordings stay on your PC. We never see what you type or what you record.

The app

Last updated 5 October 2026

Purrclick works on your PC. It has no account and no ads.
  1. Clicks and keys. The app listens for clicks, scrolls and key presses only to play a sound and draw a ripple. It never records, stores or sends which keys you press or what you type.
  2. Keyboard sounds are silent in Windows password boxes. Password fields inside a web browser may still play a sound, but nothing is ever recorded.
  3. Screen recorder. Purrclick captures your screen and sound only after you choose what to record and press Record, and stops when you press Stop. Recordings are saved as MP4 files in a folder on your PC that you choose. They are never uploaded, and we never see them.
  4. Microphone. Off by default. It's used only during a recording, and only when you turn it on. Purrclick checks whether Windows has your mic muted so it can warn you. It doesn't change your Windows settings.
  5. Window names. To let you pick a window to record, the recorder lists the names of open windows on your screen. This list stays on your PC.
  6. Licence. When you activate a licence, the app sends your licence key and an anonymous, one-way ID of your PC to Polar to check the key. No name, email, files or serial numbers. It re-checks the key from time to time.
  7. Settings are stored on your PC in %APPDATA%\Purrclick.
  8. The app doesn't update itself. New versions are downloaded from purrclick.app.
