Getting started

First steps

First time opening

  • Windows may show Windows protected your PC. Press More info, then Run anyway.
  • This happens with new apps from small makers. Purrclick doesn't change any system files.
  • Fifi wakes up at the edge of your screen. That's how you know it's running.

Turn it on or off

  • Double-click Fifi to switch sounds on or off.
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + M from anywhere. A little meow means it's on.
  • Or right-click the cat in your tray and pick Sounds on.
  • A sleepy grey cat means sounds are off.

Activate your licence

  1. Buy once. Your key arrives by email.
  2. Open the dashboard, go to Licence.
  3. Paste the key and press Activate.
  4. One key works on one PC. New PC? Email support@purrclick.app and we'll move it.

Quiet times

  • Purrclick goes quiet in Zoom and Teams by default.
  • Add more apps in Keyboard & more > Quiet in these apps, separated by commas, for example Discord.exe.
  • Turn on Start Purrclick when Windows starts so it's always ready.

Screen recorder

Record your screen

  1. Click Fifi to open the small panel, then press Record.
  2. Pick Whole screen or one window from the list.
  3. Turn PC sound and Mic on or off. Choose 30 or 60 fps.
  4. Press Record. A small bar with a timer appears at the top of your screen. It won't show in your video.
  5. Press Stop when you're done. A message shows where the video was saved, with Play and Show in folder buttons.

Find your recordings

  • Open the dashboard and go to your recordings. Every video is listed, newest first.
  • Each one has Play, Show in folder, Copy path, Rename and Delete. Deleted videos go to the Recycle Bin.
  • Or open File Explorer and go to Videos > Purrclick.
  • To save somewhere else, press Change folder in the recorder panel, or tick Ask where to save every time.

Add your voice

  1. In the recorder panel, turn Mic on. It's off by default.
  2. Pick your mic from the list. Talk and watch the level bar move.
  3. Use headphones, so Purrclick's sounds aren't recorded twice.
  4. If Purrclick says Your mic is muted in Windows, press Open sound settings and unmute it there.

Recorder panel tips

  • Clicking outside the panel tucks it into the taskbar. Click the Fifi icon in the taskbar to bring it back with your settings.
  • Close it with Cancel, the x or Esc.
  • Some video players and apps block screen capture. Those parts may show as black in the video.

Sounds and style

Change the sound

  1. Click Fifi once. A small panel opens.
  2. Scroll the list or type in Search sounds.
  3. Tap any sound to hear it. It's picked straight away.
  4. Drag the Volume slider at the bottom.

Keyboard sounds

  1. Open the full dashboard, go to Keyboard & more.
  2. Switch Play a sound when I type on or off.
  3. Pick a keyboard sound. Press its play button to hear it first.
  4. Every key makes the same sound, and nothing you type is recorded.

Style the ripple

  1. In the small panel, pick a style: Ring, Double, Glow, Dot or Paw.
  2. Pick colours for Left and Right clicks.
  3. For size and speed, press Customize ripple. The full dashboard opens on the Ripple tab.
  4. Click inside the test area to preview.

Hide the cat

  • Hover Fifi and press the small x.
  • Or drag him to the edge of the screen. He tucks in so only the ears show, and pops out when you hover.
  • Sounds keep working while he naps.

Something not working?

I can't see the cat

Find the cat icon near the clock. If it's hidden, press the small ^ arrow first. Right-click it and choose Show cat bubble. Still missing? Choose Reset cat position.

No sound at all

Check the cat isn't grey (off). Press Ctrl + Alt + M. Check the volume slider and your Windows volume. You might be in an app on the quiet list.

My voice isn't in the video

Turn on Mic in the recorder panel before you press Record. Then check Windows isn't muting it: Settings > System > Sound > Input. Speak and the bar should move.

I can't find my video

Open the dashboard and go to your recordings, then press Show in folder. By default videos are in Videos > Purrclick.

No cat icon near the clock

Purrclick is closed. Open Purrclick.exe again, or search "Purrclick" in the Start menu.

Sound stopped after plugging in headphones

Wait a couple of seconds and click again. If it's still quiet, quit Purrclick from the tray and open it again.

"Already running" message

Purrclick is already open. Look for the cat near the clock instead of opening it twice.

Key says it's used on another PC
